Introduction to Balls n' Stars 2 + demo!

Finally, after nearly a year, I finally managed to make a demo out of my current project. So folks, say hello... to Balls n' Stars 2!

Yes, the game from 2017 (that nobody is aware of) is getting a sequel! Been in development since 2022, the sequel gives the familiar gameplay of Balls n' Stars a fresh revamp.

New ways to play

Yes, no more ridiculously large reticles that doesn't help you in the slightest in the first game. The way you maneuver the ball now is with the arrow that sticks around it. A much better alternative to the clunky reticle and "distance-based" shots that I thought would benefit mouse users but ended up making it strange to play, the way you control the ball now is also controller-friendly. Yes, you can even fine-tune the angle with analog input!

Another change that this game has now is the way using your shots work. Instead of par moves from the first game, you now have limited number of shots to clear the stage before you run out of them, which in turn, ends the stage immediately.

Target for the highest grade!

Star ratings from the first game have also been replaced with grade (or rank) medals. Yes, I took this idea straight from my cancelled Round Rotate 2 project. The grade goes from D to S, getting the S grade proves that you are truly a professional launcher, but the question is: can you reach S grade in all stages in the entire game?

Brand new gimmicks!

And of course, it won't be fun (and wouldn't be Balls n' Stars) without the gimmicks! And Balls n' Stars 2 brought in plenty of new gimmicks.

Purple stars that require strong hits, booster arrows that dash you on contact and pink surfaces to bounce the ball around without losing momentum! There's more to see!

What the heck is the rectangular window on the right?

Hey, you found the radar! New to the sequel, it basically tracks all the stars in the stage and shows where you are in real-time. It might doesn't look like much of use, but it's still useful, nonetheless.

When can I play this?

For now, the game is still in (very, very heavy) development, but I expect the game to finish developing around late 2023 to early 2024; there just so many features I haven't implemented in the game yet like mini-games, sound test, in-game achievements and the like. Anyway, no stage editors, the way the stages are designed probably won't go well with my current skillset of making an in-game editor. If I'm able to (nor want to), I may also plan to bring in extra stages through DLCs.

But for the game itself, that is why I will be providing a playable demo for you to try the first 8 stages I completed so far! By the way, those 8 stages are the entirety of the first island... or should I say, the "tutorial island", Dwarfstar Island.

Look at the attachment below for the demo. And with that, I hope you had fun with what the game has to offer (so far).
